A Quick 10-Minute Overview of Today’s Mindset Reset
Some days you wake up focused, motivated, and ready to handle everything on your list.
Other days?
Your brain has 37 tabs open, one of them is playing music, and you have no idea where it's coming from.
That's when a mindset reset comes in.
The good news is that resetting your mindset doesn't require an entire morning routine, a weekend retreat, or hours of self-reflection. Sometimes, 10 intentional minutes is enough to interrupt the noise, regain perspective, and decide how you want to move through the rest of your day.
So, if today already feels a little scattered—or you simply want to make sure you're moving intentionally—give yourself the next 10 minutes.
Minutes 1–2: Stop and Check In
Before you start fixing anything, figure out where you actually are.
Ask yourself:
How am I feeling right now?
Not how you should feel. Not how you felt yesterday. Not how you hope you'll feel later.
Right now.
Maybe you're energized. Maybe you're irritated. Maybe you're overwhelmed, distracted, excited, tired, or somewhere in between.
You don't have to judge the answer.
You're simply taking inventory.
Awareness gives you something important: a starting point.
Minutes 3–4: Identify What's Taking Up Mental Space
Now ask yourself:
What's occupying most of my attention today?
It might be something you need to accomplish. A conversation you're replaying. A decision you haven't made. Something you're worried about. Or maybe it's simply the sheer number of things competing for your attention.
Name it.
Sometimes the thing creating the most mental noise isn't even the most important thing—it has simply been given the loudest microphone.
Once you identify it, you can decide whether it deserves that much of your energy.
Minutes 5–6: Separate What You Can Control
Here's where the reset starts doing some real work.
Take whatever is bothering, distracting, or overwhelming you and divide it mentally into two categories:
What can I influence today?
And:
What is outside of my control?
Your effort? Yours.
Your attitude? Yours.
Whether you send the email, make the call, complete the workout, apply for the opportunity, or finally start the project? Yours.
Other people's reactions, timing, opinions, and decisions?
Not yours.
A tremendous amount of energy gets wasted trying to mentally manage things we were never responsible for controlling.
Release those from today's assignment.
Minutes 7–8: Choose Today's One Win
You probably have more than one thing you'd like to accomplish today.
That's fine.
But ask yourself:
If I accomplish one meaningful thing today, what would make me feel like I moved forward?
Choose it.
Not twelve things.
One.
Your day can contain dozens of tasks, but identifying your one meaningful win creates direction.
Once you know what matters most, everything else becomes easier to prioritize.
Minutes 9–10: Decide How You're Showing Up
For the final two minutes, shift your attention away from what you need to do and toward who you intend to be while doing it.
Maybe today calls for patience.
Confidence.
Discipline.
Curiosity.
Courage.
Calm.
Persistence.
Choose your word—or your intention—and carry it into whatever comes next.
Because mindset isn't pretending everything is perfect.
It's deciding that circumstances don't get unlimited authority over how you think, respond, and move forward.
Ten Minutes. That's It.
A reset doesn't mean starting your entire life over.
Sometimes it simply means noticing that you've drifted and making a small correction.
Ten minutes won't eliminate every problem on your calendar.
But ten intentional minutes can change how you approach the next hour—and the hour after that.
And sometimes that's all the momentum you need.
Check in. Clear the noise. Choose your win. Decide how you're showing up.
Then get back to your day.
You don't have to wait until tomorrow morning, Monday, next month, or some imaginary moment when everything finally feels organized.
You can reset right now.
